lesson learned

A time that i learned a lesson was when me and my step-dad went on a camping trip at the lake. when we got there it was almost dark so we started a fire and set up the tent. After we did that we felt like going out on the boat for a while, so we drove to the dock and put the boat in the water. Everything was going good until all the sudden the boat dies in the middle of the lake, and wouldn't start and we didn't have a paddle. We were out on the water the whole night til finally we drifted ashore. The lesson I learned then was to never go out on the water in a boat without a paddle.

My father had left our house in the midst of a fight between Lindsey and my mother. My mother was trying to get Lindsey to go with her to the Y, to swim. Without thinking, Lindsey had blared "I'd rather die!" at the top of her lungs. My father watched as my mother froze, then burst fleeing to their bedroom to wail behind the door. He quietly, tucked his notebook in his jacket pocket, took the car keys off the hook by the back door, and snuck out.

Figurative- expressing one thing in terms normally denoting another with which it may be regarded as analogous.
figure of Speech- a form of espression used to convey meaning or heighten effect often by comparing or identifying one thing with another that has meaning or connotation familiar to the reader.
imagery- figurative language
trope- the use of a word or expression in a figurative sense.

They are all expressing figurative language.

To tell you the truth i don't know were i was eight years ago. All I remember about the following after 9/11 is that everyone was sad and always watching the news, I remember seeing on the news a video showing the plane crashing into the twin towers. Yes, I think that 20 years from now we will still remember the day of 9/11. I think the reason terrorists attacked America is that they were jealous. No, I don't know anyone that was directly hit at 9/11.

The losing team of the football game ambled back to the field house at halftime.
